Gut health is currently a big topic of interest in our family. Since Christmas, my toddler has been having severe constipation issues which resulted in two hospital visits. It felt like we had tried everything. From natural laxatives, prune juice and suppositories but nothing was working. She continued to tell us that her bum hurts or that she cant push out.
That’s when I decided to take her to get a bio scan. A bio scan is a non invasive assessment where you literally just put a little clip on your finger and shirt then sit & wait for roughly 45 minutes. This scan gets to the root cause of a health issue instead of relying on a “band-aid solution”. The practitioner scans the entire body where they check for inflammation, organ weakness, bacteria, parasites, inflammation, hydration and much more!
It turns out my toddler has severe stomach lining , liver, small intestine & pancreas damage. Of course as a mom, I blame myself. It’s hard when I thought I was being conscious of making all the right decisions when it came to our diet, but clearly eating organic food was not enough. Yes, there were the odd times that we would get take out but now I’m completely turned off. How do I know what ingredients are being used? What seed oils? Was it washed properly? Are there parasites? Is it modified? Does it have artificial flavor? Is the flour enriched? Has it been sprayed with pesticides? So many unanswered questions.
Reality hit me hard over the last few weeks and clearly I’m not being conscious enough. I don’t believe in that saying… “ everything in moderation” if the health of my kids is at stake. We should not even be putting an ounce of poison into our kids’ pure clean bodies at all. That being said, after making some dietary & supplement changes she has successfully started to poop again!!
I feel that the combination of everything is what really helped her. We started off by increasing her magnesium intake to 1 teaspoon day & night. (We are using the Natural Calm Kids powder raspberry lemon flavor.) After she started to poop regularly we decreased the dose but unfortunately had to increase again after reoccurring constipation issues. I do believe the magnesium is a big part of the solution. It helps to increase the amount of water in the intestines as it can help with bowel movements. We are also giving her the Gut-Fx Supplement which repairs the lining of the intestinal tract helping the gut heal from damage caused by inflammation. In addition, we added Kids Prebiotics & Probiotics Chewable tablets and fish oil, spirulina & chloraphyll.
Aside from supplements, we’ve been making more gut friendly meals and have completely cut out take out. I’m currently learning how to make more gluten free recipes and I even started to get creative with dairy free options such as making my own nut milk. Stay tuned for updates and I can’t wait to share some toddler approved healthy gut recipes with you all in the near future!
